In a follow up question to date codes : where is the date code "CD" located on the rim of a wheel. I have read that it should be near the valve stem? Is it also located inside the wheel? Also what would the correct date code be for a carb for a car that was built March 7, 1967 with engine casting of B3? And finally on the water inlet of my Intake manifold there is a B7 were these inlets date coded and what does it mean if so. Thanks in advance.. Keith

Re: Date codes
(1) Wheel date code info is shown nicely in the NCRS Judging Guides for later
Shark cars. Part is before the valve stem hole with the remainder after
the valve stem hole. Some KH wheels also have P/N and date coding info
stamped inside.
(2) There's no 'correct' answer to your carb question. NCRS policy is up to
6 months before build. Carb was installed on the engine at St. Louis (you
will see it going on in your AIM), so block cast date is NOT the issue.
What is the issue is when St. Louis pulled your engine from inventory to
build it up for your car and that closely parallels the body build date.
Now, when the engine was pulled from inventory in St. Louis it was a rather
random grab and so was the carb. So, the 6 month rule applies based on
the car's VIN assy date inference (could be different for AO Smith vs. St.
Louis bodies). What's 'correct' is what was originally on your car!!!
What's 'correct' in terms of NCRS Flight judging for a restoration, is up
to 6 months prior....- Top

Re: Date codes
Forgot the third question and had to duck in/out. Excuse multi-part post!
On the water outlet, many see the 'Bx' emboss in the cast and think it's a date code. I believe these parts were cast on a carousel mold and what you see identifies the specfic position of the mold on the carousel....- Top
