    Early 56 oil pan question

I don't know if there are many early 56 Corvette owners here but I have an oil pan for one but it's missing the dip tub as seen in this pic. Asking is it worth anything if I put it on e-bay. Other wise it's in great condition. Also the spark plug holders you see early 56 only.
Having a early 56 is about as bad as owning a 55 (parts are vary different)

The pans were never supplied with the tube. However, they did have the welded-on flange on the pan to accept the tube. Is yours missing the flange?

I always thought these things were spot-welded. I'm pretty sure that big block pans had the flange spot welded on. The E1956 Corvette was one of the very few Chevrolet small blocks that ever used a pan-mounted dip stick. The only others that I know of were some MD/HD truck applications. I don't think that any other passenger vehicle ever did.

Anyway, the fact that it was "riveted" on is good. That means that if someone could find some other pan (perhaps, even from some other GM car that used a pan-mounted dipstick or a destroyed early 1956 Corvette pan), one could just transfer the flange to the pan you have.

Actually, I'm more into small block Corvettes than I am big block. The "ZL-1" project is just a "dalliance" for me and a temporary return to the big block "roots" of my youth.

Here's the HD/MD truck pan with the oil return fitting forward of the dipstick tube flange.

Now that's interesting , I never saw a truck pan, guess it could be re-worked to a Corvette pan . But the one I have is a Corvette pan not having that return. Also I saw it's wibbited too. John thanks
