Who is the best and most reasonable about restoring FI units? Also what about hubcaps?

    Thanks

                Re: FI

Jerry did a full restoration on a 57 unit for me and I was very pleased..with the workmanship, turnaround time and price.

Be sure to ask the difference between having a cosmetic cleaning of your Plenum vs. having it tumbled. Same with the intake.

For me he provided a complete breakdown analysis and progress report...and a video of the unit being tested on an engine when completed.

There are others of course like John DeGregory who is equally talented. Sometimes you have to get in line to get a unit done by one of these trusted pro's.

Both are real credit to this hobby.

John DeGregory did a '58 4900R for me a few years back, I would recommend him to anyone. It looked and ran like brand new.

                    Best Regards,

John DeGegory did my 63 unit and was very happy with his work and price, and besides that he is a good guy.

                            Re: FI

Thanks for the compliments. Jerry and I do work quite hard trying to please all of you but it ain't easy you know.
I am not trying to drum up any work here as I am buried and would rather BS on the PC anymore than work. I am humbled though but your compliments.
I will say this though. I think a lot of us (me included) do the typical car owner an injustice selling him boo coo FI parts for his car. Why you ask. Because there is a lot more to rebuilding and or restoring an FI unit than putting new parts in it. THose things can be a nightmare. Especially when they come in all hacked up by others before you. I realized a lot of us want to restore the entire car by ourself but an FI unit is best left to some of the guys like Jerry Bramlett, etc. who have the experience to know what to look at and attend to when the thing just won't work worth a crap. Selling FI parts is extremely difficult because the car owners don't have a clue. But if you insist then you must have a library of books. And a whole lot of seat of the pants experience. This thought holds true in every aspect of the whole car though. Trouble is too few of us are working on these 57 to 65 FI's.And we are getting old. I hope that some of the younger people step up to the plate and learn the business. I only know of one though and that is a young man who goes by Orin Dales Restorations. Ken was well liked by our own Dale Pearman. Ken is a young fellow-I think less than 40- who has taken a real liking to the art of restoring fuel injections and he is doing a fine job. Jerry promotes Ken and so do I. After all there is only so many hours in the day and the hobby is going bonkers. Meanwhile we need more Ken's out there. My son is not interested. He's 18 and off to college and of the PC generation. I don't know what is going to happen down the road to this fuel injection restoration business. I do hope some of our Jr members show an interest. John D.
