    C1 1961 colors

On a red car with black interior: What color should the trunk mat be? How about the cardboard that hides the trunk hinges? Also, the steering column cover that hides the U-clamp. Is it painted interior color or left natural? Mine came without one and the replacement seems to have a light cad finish.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Richard,

The 61-62 judging manual says that the trunk mat, as well as the division panel(cardboard trunk hinge cover), should both match the interior color(black in your case). This may not make sense, but that's what the book says. IMO though, I think red would look better for both items, to match the red body color inside the trunk. Depends if you want points or pleasure.

The lower steering column cover, in your case, should be black to match the black interior color and black gauge cluster it attaches to. The column itself is black, but when the interiors were painted(black in your case), commonly there is overspray on the column underside. There may be traces visible or not in your case because they are the same colors.
