David, love your car!!!!....BUT, I really love the wheels. Are those American Racing kidney beans? I have been pondering a Christmas gift for myself, and would like to know the sizes of the rims and tires you have installed. My 59 is Roman Red with white coves and would look great with those wheels/tires combo. Thanks in advance.

They are American Racing "Salt Flat Specials" that I bought from Summit Racing Equipment. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...06322&D=306322
They cost me $150 each at the time. Looks like prices may have gone up a bit.

15" dia. x 6" wide, 5 x 4 3/4 bolt circle, 3 3/8 backspace.

Tires are BF Goodrich Radial T/A (obviously) 215/70 R15

For the purists there is a big caveat to this set up. In order to do this, I ended up having to shave down some of the fiberglass in the rear wheel wells because the tires were rubbing against it at times. Not constantly, but enough to be worried about damaging the sidewall and risking a blowout in the longer term.

I tried tires with a shorter sidewall, but they looked horrible. The thing that makes this set up look good is that they are beefy tires with a lot of sidewall showing. You could get the wheels in a shorter width, but you can't use a smaller backspacing, so you would be losing the depth on the face of the wheel. I didn't want that. In fact I was hoping to get more depth on the face, because that is another thing that makes the wheel look great.

I may take back what I said about the backspacing. I have a Big Brake car and had to use 3 3/8 backspacing. I don't know if the regular brake system would allow you to us a shorter backspace, but if it would, it would likely solve the problem of the wheel rubbing.

Beautiful! It looks like the one I sold in 1963 and wish to this day that I had not. I would love to find that car again, but have no trace of what the VIN was. Does anyone remember a 1959, 245hp, 4-speed, 3.70 Positraction, 2 tops, white with frost blue interior and full complement of wide blue stripes that was sold from Garden City, NY, to a young man from either Floral Park or New Hyde Park, NY in the Spring of 1963. I've put this information in Driveline on several occasions with no luck. This is my first try on the web.

Can you tell me the retailer for the decals, I would like to use them on my other non-Corvette car (1969 Camaro). I am going to try the Duplicolor Paintshop products for my first do it yourself paintjob. Adding the stripes may be beyond a first effort.

I just went to a local sign shop that said they did vehicle decals. I showed the girl there a picture of what I wanted and she did some measurements and made up a few drawings. They ordered the material (can't remember which manufacturer) and when it came in, I had them install the decals on the car, since they had some experience doing it.

The wheels on the car are American Raceing Equipment (ARE) Salt Flat Specials.Very nice wheels which I believe ARE now sourced out of China.
Nice period wheels for fifties and sixties cars. I had a set on my 62.
