C1 '57 Spark Plug Heat Shields

I have two styles of spark plug heat shields and am trying to determine which is correct for my Nov '56 built '57.

Version "A" has a reinforcing rib which runs along the flat surface and continues around the bend to the end of the part. It also has a "barbed" lower corner on the end of the tab spotwelded just above the mounting hole.

Version "B" has the reinforcing rib ending before the start of the bend, only along the flat surface, and the tab mentioned above has a square end, no "barb".

    Which would be correct?

    Thanks for the help.

Version B is NOT correct for your application.

Version A MAY be correct. However, there were, basically, different "sets" of heat shields used for C1 Corvettes versus C2 and later. I know how the C2 and later shields are configured and they are configured generally as you describe for version A. What the differences are for C1 and C2 and later, I am not sure.

Thanks, Joe. I suspected "A" was probably the better choice as it looks like the repro's pictured for '56-'57 in one of the major Corvette resto suppliers catalog. They also show something like type "B" and call it an "import" piece. Just never know when to take the sellers of repro stuff completely at their word as to correctness. They are, after all, in the business of selling parts. Thanks again.

The configuration which some suppliers identify as an "imported" piece was actually the configuration of some GM pieces, too. It's NOT a feature which is unique to "imported reproductions". However, I'm pretty sure that this configuration was not used on C1, C2, or, at least, early C3.

Thanks, Joe. I had no idea what vintage the type "B" are, but do know they're originals, not repos. Same with the type "A", but they seem to conform to what's listed for '56-'57. Thanks again for your help.
