57 Cross Flags Embel on Coves

Did all original 57 Corvette's leave the factory with the cross flags embel attached on the left and right side coves?
    Thanks

        Roy,

I saw a survivor '57 in Carlisle that had the crossed flags and was a carb car. It was a very early '57. I talked with the owner - he bought it in '58 from a dentist and showed me a picture taken in 1958 with the flags. I was also told somewhere that there were some very early carbureted cars that got flags if an HP engine version was ordered, but that they were only put on for a short time and then became limited to the FI cars very early in production.

I know the JG says no flags. I also know you have also seen a heck of a lot of '57s over a lot of years. Do you think there were some early cars that had flags? I removed the ones from my early (Dec) car, but wonder if the JG is correct for certain for the whole production year. I defer to your experience on this as being definitive as far as I am concerned.

        Thanks,
        Dave

I don't know if this will work, but I tried to put up a picture of the car here, showing the earlier picture from 1958.

I'm flattered that you give me that respect but I only know what I think? I know concerning other different year Corvettes. Yes! had and seen many 57's with them on and off of non-FI Corvettes. I know what the JM say and I cant say ether way what is -is .He!He! But again I've always said the JM has a long way to go because many people have little concern about right and wrong unless it's in the JM. That's why when people look at my 55 they ask about parts that's not the same on their 55 as written up in the JM /You may be correct I don't know for sure.

Suspect that some dealers added the flags to "dress up" the side of the car.

                        Ed,

I never thought of that. Perhaps that lead some customers to believe that they were original GM issue. Could be.

If you have the flags on your 57 coves (non-FI) at a Top Flight judging event how many points would be deducted from your score.I sure do think they help the appearance of the 57 Corvette!
