    C3: front end/alignment?

I have a 71 small block. The right front tire is showing wear on the inside tread. All other tires are wearing evenly. When looking at the tire from the front of car, the top looks to be leaning inward. I'm not familiar with front suspension and parts. The car has a small pull to the right when I drive the car and let go of the steering wheel. Nothing too bad though. Can this wear be caused by a bad alignment and the worn tread is causing the wheel/tire to lean or do I need need front suspension parts?

    Thanks,
    Greg

    Hi Greg

From what you said, it does sound like you need an alignment. I had the same problem with my truck. One front tire was wearing on the outside. I got it aligned and it seems ok now.I also heard that a bad shock can do it.

    Good luck....John

        Greg-----

The underlying problem could be wear of various front end components. The front end components that are most susceptible to wear are the control arm shaft bushings, the ball joints, the tie rod ends, the sway bar bushings and the shocks. If these components are excessively worn, a front alignment is not going to do you much good. However, a good front end man should be able to tell you if any components need replacement. So, I'd find a good front end alignment shop in your area and take it there.

first check should be the front wheel bearing on the right side---not to many front end shops now check for the bearing---what the usually do if they can't find suspension components bad they will add additional toe in to try and correct the problem---get yourself educated and hunt down a good shop---good luck---phil
