Re: FIRST AIRBOX CAR
This car owned today by Bill Connell and restorer Joel Lauman is also featured in Ken Kayser's new book the History of Fuel Injection. It includes a picture taken by Jack Knab when he and new owner Bill Howe picked the car up in St.Louis across the street from the St.Louis Corvette plant. The car was then driven to Cumberland, Md. for the SCCA race...where it competed with Carroll Shelby,Dick Thompson, Eb Rose, Don Yenko and others.
Lots of important Corvette history and a great story!
PS..if you can get a copy of Kayser's newly released book..I would highly recommend it. If you enjoyed his articles in Vette Vues..you will love the book.
PSS..you will not find nicer people than Bill and Joel. A real credit to this hobby.

Re: FIRST AIRBOX CAR
Verle, there were some pictures in the article although I am not sure if they showed up in the Google search.
As Joe said in his response there is a great deal of history on thei car in Ken Kaysers F.I. book which just came out. I have been reading it and it is very interesting. Numerous pictures also.
I looked at the Airbox car in the barn before it was sold and it was amazing to see it. Bill and Joel have documentation from the moment the car rolled off the assembly line in St. Louis. Jack Knab as was mentioned, was there with Bill Howe when they picked up the car and drove it back to Middletown a few days prior to the race.
Bill and Joel are great guys and love to share thier information with everyone. Jack Knab is a walking history book concerning the car. Jacks 62 race car is still alive in Dayton, Ohio and is displayed from time to time.
Just a bunch of great people in a great hobby.
