Noland Adams' style body dolly

I just put together a body dolly in exact accordance with Noland Adams' specifications from the body lift workbook, and the more I look at it, the less likely it seems that the body will fit on it properly. Has anyone used a dolly with these specs? It seems like there should be risers at each of the body mount points..... I would like to hear of others' experiences. Thanks!

Hi Brandon, I used the same plans and it works great. I thought the front was going to be a problem but the body showed no signs of adverse flexing. I even put it on a car hauler on the body dolly. Just hauled it a few miles strapped down with no problems. Mike

I built mine based on his specs 9 years ago. The car is still sitting on it with no problems at all!

I added a short 4/4 about 10 inches long with a 2/4 on top at both the #2 and #3 body mounts to support the body. This was on a 73. Thease boards must fit inside where the frame was.

Would it have fit without any modifications? I'm trying to figure out if my 67 is going to fit. It doesnt look like the rocker channels are going to fit over properly. What years are you other guys leaving on there for years and years? I only need this on for about a month, hopefully....

I had a 66 roadster on one for almost 16 years and just got mine back together. The front and rear looked strange not supported but seemed no worse for the time on it. Had no problems with clearance. Only problem I had was the hard rubber wheels were flat on one side on two of the four wheels. Must have been from leaving it in one place for 12 of the fifteen and half years.

I used the diminsions from Nolands book, the longer style dolly and my 64 fit perfect. With good rubber wheels, I can move it around the garage very easily.
The car has been on the dolly since Oct. 01. And I hope to get it painted soon.

I've had my 63 roadster body on a dolly that I made to Noland Adam's specs. It fits the body just fine. First, you only need to cut 4 radius curves in the plywood gussets. The front 2 and rear 2 can stay as is. I like this dolly ONLY for cleaning and storage. I would not use it for doing body work. It sits a little too high for painting and if you take the doors and roof off a roadster, they seem to flex a little too much for me. I also use a jack stand to support the front and rear if there's alot of work to be done. I dont trust it to go to the paint shop because the employees may put a little too much muscle on the overhanging ends...especially if the doors and roof are coming off. I'll build a steel one soon that will exactly support the factory body supports. Just my 2 cents. ---Does anyone have dimentions for a steel dolly that supports at the factory locations?
