Is the 56 windshield washer container the same as the 57? Somewhere I thought I saw that it was a bag whereas the 57 has a box type container. Thanks, Steve Westphal

Re: 56 Windshield washer
All of the reasonably correct 56's that I have seen have a bag. The 56/57 AIM shows a bag as well. I thought that what the AIM shows is correct for the last 57s, indicating that the bags were used on all 56 and 57s. But, I have seen 57s with the jar and the parts catalogues call out a jar for 57 and bag for 56.
If a jar is correct for 57, why does the AIM show a bag?

Re: 56 Windshield washer
My 57 ( March Car)had a metal bracket that a plastic container slides down into. I think that container is the same from 57 to 62 but has different top depending on the year. I believe the 57s had a red top. It's really hard to say what the cars at the end of 56 or early 57 had . BOB

Re: 56 Windshield washer
The '56-'57 TM&JG says 56's had a bag, with some carryover into 1957, and 57's had the molded hard white plastic container with the "red lid". This squares with the '56-'57 A.I.M., which showed a bag until the sheet (FOA 109, Sheet 1.00) was redrawn and redesigned to show the hard container system on 9/5/56, two weeks before 1957 production started.- Top
