Back to heater defroster switch, Hooked motor up to battery charger 12 volt hi and 6 volt low and motor runs fine both speeds, then was told this is not the correct way to check this. Switch checks out fine but was told the low speed wasn't showing high enough on meter to turn motor at low speed. Corvette specialists of Maryland said all their switches are tested the same send it in and he would check it and or replace it, also switches can't be adjusted to boost power to low speed. If motor spins fine on both speeds through charger is this too much juice to get accurate test vs. 6 volt check, or should one take heater out and check motor for rebuilding? Is their a chance it is a 12 volt motor? What is the no brainer? Thanks Brad

Re: Is switch ok 54?
Do you know that the heater motor IS a 6V motor or replaced with a 12V motor?
If it is a 12V motor then the low speed would almost do nothing using 6V motor.
The ballaster on the switch drops the V when turned to low speed , like you did checking it with a battery charger .
12V direct high speed 9V low speed // 6V direct high speed 4V low speed. Just a guess on the 6V. I think you have a 12V motor the way you said it worked on 12V. Where did you get the heater?- Top

Re: Is switch ok 54?
Roy, heater was in car when purchased and also has at the top a little swivel arm for something? Would I have to take heater out to check motor for 12 or 6 volt and what determines this, and are 6 volt still available and do they just fasten to end of squirrel cage? Brad. Thanks again.- Top

Re: Is switch ok 54?
The little swivel is the defroster door.I cant remember how to tell a 6V or 12V were the marking is. ( hope some one will jump in) and yes to the squirrel cage and heater case . You need to remove the unit to get to the motor to remove it. Must motors 6V or 12V for sale are cars having TWO wires not ONE like Corvette. I dont know what els to tell you about the motor speed. Let me know what happens.- Top
