    '57 Seats

Seat cushions & tracks on my '57 were out of the vehicle and apart when
I got the car. Are the seat frames identical as only one part number is used
in A.I.M? The seat bottoms have two part numbers 3729487 & 3729488. How can I tell which is right hand or left hand by looking at them? Also, seat backs have two part numbers 3740271 & 3740272. How do I tell them apart? Thanks.

    Re: '57 Seats

    Brian,
Seat bottoms: at the front lower edge corner one side will curve up higher than the other. This rise will allow the chrome seat adjuster clearance to poke through. The seat adjuster always goes on the outside rail, hence the seat bottom is identified. Seat tops: place both on the seat frame backs. Seat frames should be mounted to the floor. It will become apparent which seat is which side when you close the deck lid and observe the fit. Regards,
