    Some More From eBay...63 C2

    Hello,
Take a look at eBay item #150197695430, a 1963 Coupe for sale that claims to be serial number 9,110 and tell me what you guys think.

While I am in no way saying that this car is not #9,110, I find it strange that it also claims to be body number 8,891 as per the trim tag info.
Also strange, is the fact that I previously recorded a '63 that was said to be car #9,110. That car is/was a 340hp 4spd Saddle/Saddle Vert with a White top.

If I owned the Saddle Vert with that serial number I would not be too happy!
Or did that Saddle car somehow lose it's serial plate?

Not sure if this will work but:

Thanks for the attempted help Mikie!
Not sure why the connection does not go through.
Item is still there with 9 bids now and at over $36,000.

        What's the trick?
        I'll try again:

If this still does not work, the Item# again is: #150197695430

            Hi Syd-

cut and paste the entire link in my message, not just the yellow highlighted part.

Best of the holiday season to you!

Syd, A 1963 coupe with a J2 body build date and body number 8891 should be in the 17K serial number range, not 9K. Only about 8000 or so cars off. The body number should be around 5055-5060 with an F4 body build date, to be correct for that serial number. FWIW. Dave

Re: Some More From eBay...Tim tag info

                    Exactly right Dave.
This car is not even close!
The serial number plate also looks way too shiny as compared to the trim tag and that's not even considering the weld marks.

Dave, how are you able to guess that the body number of 8,891 translates into car 5,055-5,060?
The trim tag sequence for 1963 interests me as I have seen a few examples of cars with body numbers that were greater than the years total production for that body type.

(Sorry for not being able to post the link but I gave up after the 5th try. Even the cut and paste thing did not work for me Mike.)

                    Happy holidays to all!

Re: Some More From eBay...Tim tag info

Syd, Not much of a guess involved. 1963 coupe #9093 is F4 #5055, the next SWC I have info on is #9196 with F4 #5122. I have some files I've been adding info to over the years, on serial number's, body number's, body build dates, etc. My main focus was on 1966 Corvette's to start with, but over the last few years or so, I expanded into 1963 and 1965 information also. I did not start any files on 1964's or 1967's. The 1966 file currently has about 2650 car's listed, the 1963 file has about 750, and the 1965 file about 950 car's. They are kind of imperfect, as there are gaps in some of the info, as most of it came from For Sale ads, books, magazines, eBay, other internet sites, etc. So, it is only as accurate as the information that was available at the time, which leaves a lot of room for error's. But, for the most part, they show a pretty good correlation between serial number's, body number's and body build dates, with very few exceptions. FWIW. Dave

                              Thanks Dave.

I also keep records from the same sources as you do but only on 1963's.
My file has info on over 2,400 63's.

Only over the past year or so have I been paying closer attention to the body number sequence as well. I wish that I had from the start!
I did have the cars you mention in my file but would have to dig deeper to find if I recorded the body number of some other cars that I have listed closer to this vin.

Not sure if this cars vin tag was taken from the Saddle Vert I recorded previously or if the restorer made one for this car with zero regard to the very obvious. Anyway, it's not the first time I've seen examples like this one.

Thanks for posting the link Mike!
I've got to work on my computer skills for sure.
