    Experience with Crane corvette supply

    Hi,
    I am thinking of buying a rebuilt AFB from Cranes in San Diego. Anyone have any experience dealing with him?

      He seems to have what you would need but I do NOT like speaking with him on the phone...at all.

          I have dealt with David Crane. He seems like a good guy.
          Got my parts at a fair price and delivered quickly.

              I would suggest that you do a search of the archives on this board before you spend any money with Crane

                      Sometimes, I think that David spends too much time wrestling with "Hollywood".

                      I think that Doctor Rebuild wanted to wrestle her, too, but he finally figured that he might not be able to pin her in a fair match because of his back problems.

                          I have dealt with David for going on 5 years for parts for my '63 and '67. He is not a bargain (not sure anyone is) but he stands behind what he sells. Shipping is quick and he is knowledgeable once you get the conversation going. He can be abrupt at times but just roll with it. I do not hesitate to call or buy from him.

                              Just let him know that if it is junk, it is coming back and you want a full refund!

                              He has miss-represented a couple items over the phone to me in years past (been a long long time ago). When I confronted him on it he tried to squirm out of it. Clever devil, he can almost make you believe anything. He will argue (politely) untill you are blue in the face. You have to stick to your guns. He took the items back. I got screwed out of shipping. The item was a car door that was supossedly "cherry/real nice." The fiberglass was broken (obviously) and the door frame had big rust holes in it???

                              I did get a nice set of sunvisors from him once.

                                  If you deal with David...Better know the part you want and be prepared to deal... he does know how to deal.

                                      I agree. I have grown up a bit when it comes to dealing with people. I try very hard not to deal with people that I can't have a straight conversation with. Takes all the fun out of the hobby for me. If I want to take a chance, I will go to a casino There are good people out there, I would rather talk to them. Terry

                                          I recently purchased a tri-power air cleaner from him. I asked him to rush getting the item shipped and he did. The aircleaner was a very nice piece, much better than the repo I had on the car that I bought back in the 80's.

                                          He knows his stuff and asks an appropriate price for it. No complaints here.
