    L88 throttle bracket plus C-2 C-3

    Happy Holidays Everyone!
    I need some tech advice
#1 can any one post a pic of the set up at the accelarator bracket 1968 L88
#2 since the Carb has no vac port front or rear what did GM do for the pvc?
was it pulled off the tee at the back of intake?
#3 what about crank case ventilation
#4 was the choke a coil or was it just deleted? (because of the heavy spring on the side of choke)
    Thanks everyone
I hope all have a Great Holiday and may the New Year be all you and your familey need or want in 2008!!

    Re: L88 throttle bracket plus C-2 C-3

The accelerator bracket is nothing special, it was apparently also used on the Holley carbed 350 (LT1) and is available in repro

The correct 4054 carb DOES have a provision for the PCV sticking out the side of the carb base plate below the vacuum diaphragm for the secondary butterflies. The incorrect 1967 3418 does not have this provision and is frequently restamped into a 4054. The "usual" vacuum port on the intake is used to feed the headlights, etc and the power brake booster.

PCV as noted above is from the carb base plate

No choke stove/coil/rod was used on the L88 although anyone could add it as the carb had the correct linkage - just remove that spring wound around the linkage to allow it to move.

      Thanks for the info
What was the 3418 for then? I know I read somewhere that it was standard issue for the 67 L-88 with 840 heads?
      Is this wrong?
      Thanks

The Holley list 3418 was originally used for the 1967 L88 which did not have a PCV - it used a road draft tube. It was also an excellent carb in its own right - 850 CFM vac secondary with the mixture distribution tabs and stagger jetting - perfect if you decided to cut out the plenum divider on your Holley 4 barrel intake for a 425 or 450 HP 427 or a 375 HP 396 to gain a few top end HP. It was available as a service part from both Holley and GM as was the 4296 carb until at least the late 1980's (maybe still available, I don't know). Strangely enough, the 4054 carb was not marketed as a service carb even though it was essentially the same carb as the 3418 and did have the provision for PCV so would have been a more widely applicable part.
