Info on '69 fire extinguisher?

I've noticed in the Dobbins' book on 68-72 that a number of dealer-offered accessories were offered, not available from the factory. These include hand-held lights, road hazard kits, compasses and fire extinguishers.

The '69 I bought this year is very original and undisturbed for the most part, and I took a fire extinguisher bracket out of the back luggage area 9mounted on a wheel hump) The car also had one of those really weird looking tilt up racks, too.

Does this bracket look like what was offered by the delaers back then? Any info?

Steve I do not think that bracket is Dealer installed I have installed many just like it on fire extinguishers from walmart etc... But I could be wrong hopefully someone with an original GM extinguisher will chime in.

Search the archives for recent posts by Roy Braatz. Maybe a week ago, he posted a picture of his recently acquired GM accessory fire extinguisher. If his photo doesn't show, send him an email asking for a copy of it.

That looks like the standard bracket found on virtually all Amerex fire extinguishers - I have several of them.

Hello; The bracket you have is not GM and not from the 60's! i collect GM fire extinguishers and the bracket in not correct. Andy

I understand the point about the plastic base, but look at my picture as compared to Geoffrey's... the metal clasp looks almost identical in configuration, don't you think?? The clasp is all you can see in Geoffrey's pic.

Geoffrey- any chance I could see the underside of the bracket holding your extinguisher?

The picture in Dobbins' book shows a similar extinguisher but the paint color may be different 9tough to tell in B & W). No mounting bracket shown there.
