    69 427 A.I.R. pump bracket hardware

Would someone be able to post a pic or explain what the proper hardware is for attaching this smog pump bracket to the engine?

Near as I can tell, the one water pump bolt with the stud will go in the upper R/H water pump mounting hole. The bracket will slide over this and be held with a nut...but is it a regular nut or "special" nut and what if any washers should be between the nut and bracket?

Now there should also be a bolt that attaches the aft part of the bracket to the head so what if any head marking should it have and again, what if any washers should be used between this bolt and the bracket?

While on this topic I just want to confirm that there should be NO washers under any of the bolts that attach the water pump to the block. Is this correct or should there be washers under these four water pump bolts?

    Thanks and Merry Christmas.

The bracket is attached at both locations with regular bolts. Nothing special about the bolts so any head mark of the era should do. My 68 has lock washers only on both bolts and my 69 has a lock washer only on head bolt. I'm not the original owner of either so I don't know if this is factory correct.

The stud is used on the top L/H hole of the water pump to hold the tension arm for the AIR pump.

      Thanks John.

That all makes sense now. Can't believe I missed the obvious with the stud being used for the adjuster so thanks for pointing that out.

Do you know if the water pump bolts should have washers under them or not?

Sorry I don't know the answer to the water pump washer question. My 68 has them and my 69 does not, but both have have the water pump replaced some time in the past so I don't know what was original.
