    Odometer Reset

I've seen an ad in a prior issue of the Driveline that spoke to having a means/method of repair for the odometer reset. Does anyone recall the name and number of this service provider?

Found it. Driveline issue #177. "Trip meter repair tool...". carlclub@comcast.net. Has anyone had any experience in using it?

I have found that the reset cable can't be pushed up far enough to engage the reset function, a BB in the reset knob gives you that little extra push and makes re-setting the trip odometer breeze. Give it a try.

Thanks...I was thinking about doing something like that...wasn't sure exactly what to use. It makes sense since on previous occasions the reset cable poked through the bottom of the rubber knob.

Brian, I know that you no longer have an issue with your reset, but I thought I'd share this for others who might be. I gave the BB a try...but decided to remove it as I could see how it was beginning to protrude through the bottom. I removed the rubber knob and attached a 3/16" socket to the cable end, this allowed me to push up and rotate the odometer around several times. When the rubber knob was returned, everything operated a bit easier, probably because of the "exercising" of the odometer cable. Also, if one is right handed, sitting in the driver's seat and reaching down with the left hand doesn't provide as much leverage to grip, push and turn the cable as one would have if kneeling down and leaning over the sill plate. I'll probably finish off the repair by attaching the rubber knob to the cable end with some epoxy. Thanks, Ray

            Don't use epoxy.
