I recovered my seats, using Al Knoch's material. Turned out OK, covers were fairly tight to put on.
My question: Is the gap between the lower back and seat cushion normal ?
I thought the gap should be smaller or should be touching. I can't tilt the back any more to lessen the gap.
Same thing on 53-55 the covers are to short (tight) making the back side compress causing a gap between the soft top lid. This is how they should fit.
Seen many like your's after installing thier covers in C2's,
Rainer,
Did you use new foam? What is preventing the seat from going back further? Is it the foam or the seat stops. The foam will give a little over time. I had Al Knock covers installed on my 63 by Al. I didn't notice as much space as you have and the seat bottom seemed to hit the top section before the seat stops.
Yes , I used new foam. I will see, how the gap looks with-out using the stops.
May have to adjust the back that way, without having the back tilted too far....
Just checked both similar vinyl seats on our 63. There is no gap between backrests and seat bottoms. It may be possible you pulled the material too tight at these points, compressing the foam too much. You may want to consider loosening up the areas a bit, if possible. However, they do look verrrry nice!
Thanks all for the coments.
I will have a look, if I can add foam to lessen the gap. If not, I will put the seats in the car, may not be so abvious when the seats are installed.
