Corvette Central recommends using the Signode banding tool SRC 5823. It was priced on the Signode website at $160, if I remember correctly. Grainger has it for over $100 but can't remember exactly.
Fastenal company (industrial & construction supplies) has sealing/crimping tool #580093 for 5/8" clips (also works well on 1/2" clips), and it makes a single reverse crimp or up-notch in the clip.
I bought it for $78.33 plus S&H, and have used it to do my spring banding. It works great in case there are some members out there who are planning to do their own spring rebuilding. I ending up buying both the CC and the Paragon kits, but ended up using the CC as the clips and steel bands appear more correct from photos of original spring bands I have seen.
