I've got the shorter 3 3/8 yoke. Has anyone seen a reduction of vibration after changing to the 4 3/4 yoke? Any success stories about this part?
Thanks,
MHY
When I bought my '57, it had a 3-3/8" yoke in it too, and the resulting localized stress from the short spline engagement had twisted the output shaft; wound up replacing the mainshaft and having to replace the short yoke with the correct 4-3/4" yoke. This was fun too - tried one of the repo yokes, and the splines were broached so poorly that it wouldn't go more than an inch onto the new mainshaft before it bound up. Finally spent $$ for an original NOS yoke, still wrapped in Cosmolene paper, and it fit like a glove.
