66 delco battery, correct # and will it fit??

    66 delco battery, correct # and will it fit??

    I need a new battery for my 66. I have read the archives and I am confused. What number of delco battery do I need and will the current delco replacements fit my stock battery tray and shield? The judging manual calls for a "DC 12, #1980558", this is my driver so I just want a replacement delco style battery.

      delco dealer can supply a delco battery that'll fit. mike

          You need a Group 24 battery - I have the Delco model #24-7YR in my '67 - fits fine, has the correct terminal post orientation for correct cables.
