C1-'57 Accelerator Arm & Bracket

Questions re the accelerator arm and pivot mounting bracket on the firewall (2X4 car):

I know the flat arm is cad plated but can't really tell what plating, if any, was used on the mounting bracket. Cad or zinc?

Would the round rod from accel pedal through the pivot bracket have been semi-gloss black dipped?

Was the assy installed prior to paint? In Noland's photos in his Resto Guide the arms look mostly unpainted, but mine definitely had primer and blackout. JG says only that the flat arm is cad plated.

Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

I doubt if the assembly was installed prior to paint - it has plastic bushings in the bracket that wouldn't survive the paint ovens. I restored mine ten years ago (and don't have it any more to look at), but as I recall, the bracket was dip-primed black, the rod was phosphated, and the lever was zinc-plated.

Thanks, John. Just curious, what temp would the paint ovens have been and for how long?

The prime oven was 280*F for 60 minutes, and the final color oven was 250*F for 45 minutes.

That would be too much for most low performance thermoplastics. Thanks for the info.
