Re: '58 Master Cylinder (correct casting?)
And to expand on the above info pertaining to Delco, the casting number is 5456022 with the last three digits "022" in the same size digits as the "5456". Beginning in Jan. 1959, Delco enlarged the "022" so that those digits were much larger than the previous numbers. The cylinder has the master cylinder part number "5454480" and "320-G" stamped into the plug at the front of the fluid reservoir. The hex top filler cap is cast iron and contains "USE G-M-C BRAKE FLUID" and its casting number 5300880. It seems easier to find the enlarged 022 cylinder than it does the '58 correct cylinder, but try Grossmuellers and Paragon, where I got mine.- Top

Re: '58 Master Cylinder (correct casting?)
FYI as a note when the changeover to the BIG 022 may have occured, my mid March 59 #5504 has the small 022 in the casting#, along with the same stamp and cap #'s described.
Maybe they had both BIG & small flavors on the shelves around then?
