I just purchased a 69 coupe. The owner stated in writing that it was a numbers match drivetrain. The transmission is incorrect. The numbers are P-O2-11. There is no serial number on the case at all. Could somebody identify this Muncie 4-speed, and tell me what it is out of and what year? Thanks, Mark

Those numbers don't provide enough info to ID it. If you could provide the CASTING numbers found on the main case (passenger side), extension housing, and side cover, we might be able to narrow it down.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I agree with Dave; it's a 1965 Muncie. Also, it was likely one of the last ones built with the 3846249 extension housing. That extension housing has the speedometer fitting on the driver side. Later Muncies, including 1969, had the fitting on the passenger side. So, someone must have done some other "adapting" (like, changing the routing of the speedo cable and, most likely, changing the cable) to make this transmission work in this car.
While the 1965 Muncie will otherwise fit perfectly in a 1969, it's not as strong of a transmission as the 1966+ Muncies. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
