    Re: Please help very urgent!!!!

    Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It didn't make noise b4 you took it out...right? Re- check everything...No grinding. You have an alignment problem, components, not wheel alignment.
When do you hear the noise, low/high speed, turning, driving over curbs. We need more info, you need to sit back and have a beer......what kind of noise?
Clunking, did you check/change the diff. fluid while you had it out?

Long shot --- sway bar links ?

Since you mentioned it was a big block car, have you checked to see that your rear sway bar and links to the trailing arm move up as the weight is taken on the wheels as the car is lowered to the ground ?

Once, I had removed the rear calipers on my 396, which (in my case, unless anyone has any special tricks) involves unbolting the link from the trailing arm to properly tighten the brake line. As I was using the sway bar to manoeuvre my body, I had inadvertently lowered the end eyelets, so that when I reconnected the links between the bar and the arm, any upward movement of the trailing arm would cause the link to lower towards the arm, pushing the sway bar back instead of up. The link/bar assy was then rubbing against the rear rim, but only when the car's weight was on the wheels. Made a horrendous sound when pushing the car a few feet forward or back, like I'd just done something terrible to the differential; everytime I'd jack it up to rotate things by hand, there'd be no noise, other than the contact of the flange and the yoke, as you mentioned.

Anyway, it IS possible to attach the links to the sway bar arms when the eyelets are too low to allow proper articulation. Hope this might be your problem/solution
