63 Lower Radio Ignition Shield "Boomerangs"

Hi......boy, got lost in the archives on this one. I also searched long for the ref to the Restorer article by John A.(below) about the shielding in the Restorer index here in the Pubs search, but no luck. If anyone knows the Vol/Yr/Issue please let me know. BTW, my 63 JG is still on backorder.

Quote from a Alan Drake post last April....
"Great article in Restorer - "1963-67 Corvette 327 Engine Radio Ignition Shielding Wire Shields & Routing Supports" by John Amgwert. Do not know what Vol or Year, I found on the 63/64 CD edition."

Here are a few pics of a pair of lower/inner wire shields an aquaintance has, who also has several pieces I'm missing. Our car only has a AM radio so we really need these parts for "no clicking" when cruising around.:-) The part#s are supposed to be 3819764(R), 3819763(L) according to my 63 AIM. Are the ones I pictured here replacements, or for something else? I could find no reference in my parts books for them. Part#'s on the little brackets are 3973402 & 397???? which don't correspond to the AIM either. I suppose they'd fit and work but would rather have the right stuff.

    more pics here:

    Thanks,
    Rich

Rich -- yes, the ones you show are the replacement boomerang shields, cut out at the forward support hole to accomodate the later (larger) style engine mounts.

The RESTORER article by John Amgwert is Volume 12, #4 (Spring 1986).

I'll post a pic, but it looks the same as in the AIM (same shields 1963 thru 1967 production).

      Wayne,

Thanks for clearing this up. Your picture tells it all. A C2 buddy just called and filled me in about the motor mount changes too. Didn't know about that. Back to the hunt.

I just looked at all of my 20+years worth of Restorers, beginning Vol 13,#2,Fall 1986 when I must've joined NCRS after buying my 59 in June 86, so I don't have the Spring issue. Rats! I'll see if my local C2 buddy Chuck has it.

      Thanks,
      Rich
