Re: c-1 block numbers
1955 (only) block I'd look at the block date again, unless it is a service block. Heads are also 1955, correct for 4-bbl Corvette or pass car. 1955 oil filters (if installed) were external to the engine.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: c-1 block numbers
55 Chevy pass car 3 speed manual. I think the block date code is B135 rather than B138. Its an early 265 ci. All corvette motors are F55F, whuch were cast in SAGANAW and machined/assembled in Flint. Yours is a Towanda machined/assembled.

Re: Tonawanda
I have a motor in my 55 that is a Tonawanda machined/assembled and saganaw casting ie D185 date(Its a T55F block not original to the car, anyone have a April or earlier 55 block?). It appears saganaw cast blocks that were machined/assembled in both Flint and Tonawanda with the Flint ones going to the Corvette plant.

Re: c-1 block numbers
I think what happened was the blocks were cast at Saganaw and shipped to Tonawanda for assembly/machining because the Towawanda foundry could not furnish enough to meet demand. Threw me on my motor too because it had a T55F on the pad I assumed it was a Tonawanda casting and the single digit were the Tonawanda blocks. Lost a bet on that one after doing the research.
