    57 washer

My original 57 FI ,Auto , owned 35 years , the washer bottle red top had a bar and logo as seen "arrow" and a soft light bottom.
The ones used and sold today have no bar and the bottom is a hard white material that was used on many other model cars. Which is thought to be original now days.

Roy....one rarely sees the correct 57 red washer top like your old original...and I am not aware of anyone that reproduces the correct one with the rectangular bar.

The problem is the originals dry up and crack over the years.

Joe! I think most people think the replacement is original , I tried years ago to sell one like mine but every one said it was wrong because they never saw a real original one in a restored 57. Go figure JM! Gave it to a friend for his 57 and he got the same thing from Corvette meets.

        Hey Roy...

I don't suppose there is any source for replacement rubber diaphram on that foot pump?

          Re: Hey Roy...

Many many different design foot pumps were used in other GM cars and (trucks) using the same rubber diaphragm. 56-57 Corvette was the same rubber .It was also available as a repair kit.Once in a while you'll see one on e-bay. (look under GM foot pump)

            Hmmm...

I sent Trico a note about whether the rubber diaphram was available, and they got back to me right away to say it was not. They mentioned eBay, as you did.

How many applications are there for this item? Just a few years, or many? A few cars, or many? I have occasional contact with one of the best auto restoration rubber manufacturers in the business.

Like I mentioned you can find the kit, you need the rubber or the whole unit ? For your old 55 beater like mine if you need the unit look under trucks of the 50's many used the same thing and some GM cars.

                Well,

my pump is OK, but often these old pumps have hardened or cracked. It would be nice if new, soft rubber mushrooms could be supplied to people who need them, listed in a catalog.
