    1967 Fan Shroud Removal

    What did I do wrong?

I needed to pull the radiator out of my 1967 327/300 car on Sunday. I did succeed in getting the radiator out but I cannot for the life of me get the fan shroud out easily. I even pulled out the bolts that hold the fan out to move it back a little.

What am I doing wrong. It seems like a simple enough process. I did follow the instructions in the shop manual.

    Thanks,

    Re: 1967 Fan Shroud Removal

Mark - I have a 67 and 74 and will be removing the radiator shortly on my 67. I have done this in the past on my 74, and, as I recall, the A-arm support rods interfere with the shroud removal, and, loosening the radiator support bolts allows you to gain the clearance necessary to remove all items. Now, if the midyear shroud and cant angle of the radiator is different that this is not the case I don't know, but, I suspect the problem is similar...Craig

      Craig,

Thanks for the reply. The A-arm support rods are indeed in the way. Are you suggesting that I loosen the radiator support bracket (frame), push it forward to gain clearance and then remove the shroud?

        Hi guys,

Well I just finished putting my radiator in on my 67 coupe w/air. I took all the bolts, pulleys, fan off first. Then I pulled the shroud out enough to get the radiator out. Once that was out, i had clearence to pull the shroud out of the car. It took a bit of twisting and turning but it will come out. After i got one side above the arm it was a peice of cake. It actually went back in easy, unlike getting it out.

        Hope this helps
        Larry

If you haven't has sucess yet try this. If my memory serves me right when I pulled my rad. in '93 I pulled the shroud and rad. together.

          Good luck! Dennis

I just removed the shroud from my 1967 327/300 roadster as follows: remove fan; remove hood to access shroud bolts; loosen radiator (it's only attached at the top); pull radiator and shroud out together. I didn't take need to take the water pump off, but it would have been a lot easier if I had. Hope this helps.
