    54 carb adjust

54 carbs have been adjusted as to literature, getting a little missing and or spitting, checked plugs and were blackened, Rich? Do I only need to adjust idle mixture screws in or out and then center carb throttle Rpm? What is the easiest cure for the layman? Thanks again Brad, New Years Res learn more about these T Rex's.

Brad, What type of plug wires do you have? Probably need a set of solid core wires to make the old 6 sing. Eric #3,182

Brad, I had a similar experience with my "side drippers" and found dirt in one of the needle/seat valves. It was flooding the float bowl and causing the engine to run rich in a couple of cylinders. The exhaust was spitting and missing, as you described.

I still have an ongoing dripping problem, caused by pressure build up after engine shutoff. I'm going to do the "Mike McClosky" fuel pump mod and hope that resolves it.

Recheck metering rod adjustment. Lower floats a little more, and buy a Corvair Turbo Carb kit having the rubber needle nose and inner spring.
