Assuming that you have the spare tire carrier off, it's very easy. Apply 2 pinch clamps to the section of hose which connects the fuel sender unit to the frame fuel line. Apply the clamps near the middle of the line. Cut the line between the clamps. Place the ends of the line into suitable containers and remove the pinch clamps. Obviously, you want to make sure that whatever container you use for the gas tank end of the hose has enough capacity to contain the amount of fuel in the tank. The other side of the line only needs a very small container to drain whatever amount is in the line.
Make sure that you remove the fuel cap before you start the draining operation. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: gas tank on c-2
Hi Tom:
If you plan to remove the tank sender after draining the tank, be very careful. Even after all the gas has drained out of the outlet pipe, there will still be a gallon or more in the tank (look into the filler opening to see how much). If you remove the tank sender thinking that the tank is empty, you will get an unpleasant surprise and create a potentially dangerous situation. Do not ask me how I know this.- Top

Re: He has a furnace? Wow!
I have to chip the ryme ice away from the garage door and outlets these days...... -5 and two feet of white stuff to date in beautiful Upstate NY this AM
BY the way, I stuffed some clean dry rags into the tanks and moved them around with a long WOODEN yard stick from the top to get what residual was laying in the bottom of my C-3 tank.
