C2 C3 Big Block Oil Pan Again. Photo Comment.

Background on service replacement pan number 14091356, which replaced 3872429, is in
Joe Lucia's post about the differences between the service replacement and the original.

Without mention of the GM numbers, Paragon lists two choices. One called a service replacement (Paragon 8498K, $90) which "eliminates the use of the original baffle". A photo shows the side drain plug. Their second choice (5781K, $180) photo shows center drain plug.

Many sellers on the internet list 14091356 along with a photo of a pan with a side drain plug. Using this number, I suspect the buyer still gets "the right part" with a center rear drain plug. This is a Canadian made GM service part also available at any Chevrolet dealer, plus many E-bay re-sellers.

I suspect these other internet sites are simply using a photo of the passenger car pan mentioned by Joe in the archive posting linked above.

Did anyone ever get the passenger car pan (side drain plug) when ordering 14091356?

      Tom------

The identification of the oil pan pictured in this photo as being a GM #14091356 is incorrect. The pan pictured is likely a GM #14103141. GM mid-identified the 14091356 in some earlier versions of the GMPP catalog and that may have "found its way" into databases that certain vendors use to depict GM parts.

I have several examples of the 14091356 and all have the rear drain and are the Corvette configuration.
