Found a supposed NOS expansion tank dated 60G and I need one for my May 61 build date car. Judging manual notes that Harrison division only made tanks during certain months, but doesn't state which months. Corvette Central catalogue lists J,M,and C as common months, but, looks like we can order any month.
The bottom line; is this NOS expansion tank dated 60G OK for my May 61 build date car without deductions? Is it too early?
Thanks as always,
Ron

NO! You need a date within a six month time span. 61C would be ideal. Give Tom DeWitt a call for your tank. His products are excellent AND he has the knowledge that you're looking for. I've never seen a tank as early as July 1960. I have seen an original 6J tank. The "0" started appearing later in production so I wouldn't trust a date of 60G. 60K, 60L, and 60M tanks are legit as I recall. I don't have my notes here in Florida.
If I'm counting right, G would indicate July, 1960. That sounds a bit early, more than the normal 6 mos "allowable" lead time, but from what I have seen posted on the board and personal observation, it was October or even November before all cars had the expansion tanks installed. For whatever all that is worth.....
Ron, I have a 61 with a May 15 build date. It has a 61A date on the expansion tank. I beleive this part is very much original to the car. I wouldn't mine sharing more info. about our cars.
