I HAVE A 64 COUPE, HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND JACK ARE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR? THE MIRROR IS STAINLESS STEEL WITH MADE IN USA ON THE BOTTOM AND GUIDE GLARE-PROOF ON THE TOP. ALSO THE DAY/NIGHT KNOB ON THE BOTTOM IS GRAY/WHITE IN COLOR. I HAVE A FEELING THE DAY/NIGHT MIRROR WAS NOT AVAILABLE IN 64 AM I WRONG? IF IT IS ORIGINAL HOW DO I GET THE MIRROR OUT WITHOUT BREAKING IT AND WHERE CAN I SEND IT TO GET IT REFINISHED? IN REFERENCE TO THE JACK AND HANDLE 9B28 IS STAMPED ON THE JACK. SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS BUT STILL WAITING IN LINE FOR THE C2 JUDGING MANUEL. HOPE TO HAVE MY CAR JUDGED IN THE SPRING, APPRECIATE ANY HELP.

Hi Chuck, believe the mirror was a Dealer installed option, like the clear floormats, luggage straps, etc. Jack sounds like later replacement.

Interior D/N mirror WAS a dealer option in '64, became a factory option in '65 (Z01 Comfort & Convenience Group) and a standard feature in '66. Actuator knob IS grey plastic, but it was painted black (look up inside the mirror housing and you'll see reminants of the paint that weren't worn away by human touch).
The glass is crimped into the housing and while it IS possible to replace the glass yourself, it's a MAJOR job requiring tooling and experience or 'touch'...- Top

Not sure on your mirror, but as was mentioned before, you need a type 1 jack. They all kind of look the same until you start to study the details. Here is the type 1 jack from my 63. This is what yours should look like. Note the bearing end. You should see no date on a type 1 and will see a large A on the pad surface.
