C3 69 Center console Engine Data plate

Does anyone have knowledge of Chevy, from the factory, installing a center console engine data plate in a car with a higher horsepower rating than what should be on the plate. I've been told that the original owner wanted a more powerful engine so Chevy, from the factory, modified the engine and installed the data plate with the modified engines new higher horsepower rating. Plate looks real, only exception is the fonts on the horsepower rating are a little different in size from the fonts on all the other data.

Just about all Corvette part suppliers sell replacement engine data plates- pick the one with the HP rating you've always dreamed about and for about $10 a new legend is born.

I would say that the scenario that you suggested would have been about as likely to have occurred as the people in hell getting ice water.

I would suspect that someone later just installed a different data plate, assuming that the information on the data plate is one of the many that GM once offered over the early C3 period. If it's something else, then it's almost certainly some sort of aftermarket creation.
