C2 windshield grill nuts

I have two configurations of u nuts and two places to put them. One place is for the support strip for the rocker panels and the other place is for the windshield grill. Do the ones with a cut out in the middle go on the grill and the ones with point in the middle go on the support strip? The 67 JG says to use a u shaped clamp nut for the windshield grill.

The same U-nut (#3846854) was used for the cowl vent grilles, the rocker molding retainer strip, and the #3 body mount access cover screws; photo below shows its configuration.

Thank you. As I suspected, I have the locations of the two types reversed.
