    Original idler arm?

Is it the original Idler arm or a service replacement? It has casting number 3773185 and GM on it. I can't find the idler arm alone with a PN in the AIM. Closest I find is 3952701 "Relay & Tie Rod Asm" found on UPC 9, Sheet A2. The N40 (PS) section references UPC 9 and UPC 3, however UPC 3 doesn't show the idler arm at all. I also checked for the casting (part?) number in those sections and didn't see that either.

Re: idler arm ....good mid yr and 68

The idler arm in your photos is a good part for mid years and 68 too. It matches what I've seen. But I do not know about 1970.

      Juliet----

Yes, it's an original or an original replacement. Idler arms with the forging number 3779185 were used on all 63-81 Corvettes. The part number for this piece was GM #3779184. For 1982 a different idler arm was used, GM #14053350. This piece became the SERVICE piece for 63-81 when the 3779184 was discontinued. The 14053350 is identical in configuration to the 3779184. However, it has NO forging number of any kind. It is also discontinued and replaced by GM #12509357 which services all 63-82 Corvette applications. This is a HIGH QUALITY piece, but its configuration is TOTALLY different than earlier parts.

        Juliet -

You couldn't find a number for the idler arm in the A.I.M. because it was received at St. Louis as part of the "relay and tie rod assembly", which was the entire steering linkage (center relay rod, tie rod sleeves, clamps and ends, idler arm, and pitman arm) from Chevrolet-Buffalo.
