What is correct color of 1967 engine compartment

1967 Corvette Roadster. I am in the process of preparing my engine compartment and underside hood for painting. The question is, what color? I purchased Semi-Gloss Black from Long Island Corvette Supply. Is this right, or should the color be a bit duller, like a satin black? Thanks for your help.

    Jim -

The engine compartment blackout is more of a semi-flat than semi-gloss; kind of an "eggshell" black, if you will. John Deere "Blitz Black" or Krylon #1613 "Semi-Flat" are about as close as you'll get, IMO.

John: Thanks a lot. Also, what do you know about the water pump? The NCRS book says its in place when the engine is sprayed. Does that mean that the whole thing is orange, or is it a base color with possible orange overspray? Thanks so much.
