I posted a question asking about how the wiring runs for a 1971 TI system. Three responses: many different systems-that helps; look in a book; and one person said they would send pictures of a 1972. Are 1971 TI systems that rare--Dave Feidler seems to have plenty of business. Surely someone out there must have replaced a TI system. I always helps if someone else has already done the job before. Thanks.

"Are 1971 TI systems that rare"
Yes & no... By 1971, TI was no longer a stand-alone option for Corvette. It became a component of other vehicle options (LT1, LS6, ZR1 and ZR2 engine packages). In prior years, it was offered to any/all as a stand alone option, K66. And, since it'd been around for a LONG time (debuted in 1964), there just wasn't much call for Chevy to do a thorough documentation job of it in the AIM.- Top

Re: TI ingition system 1971
I took the TI system off my car after the warranty and cliped all the extra wires I found the wire harness at Lectrics Limited and the diagram at Doc Rebuild. Pictures in most of the books are black and white ( pooooor quality ) I have some pics and will send if you write All LT-1 owners should talk to each other There seams to be no other way- Top

Re: TI ingition system 1971
I'm sorry you didn't care for my answer earlier. You asked how does the one year only CEC solenoid mount on the carburetor. It is clearly shown in Dobbins Fact Book on page(s) 178, 180 for a '71 LT-1 application.
You asked how rare is a '71 TI system, well for my application it is less than 1%. Yours is just under 9% of total production.- Top

Re: TI ingition system 1971
If someone is sending you pictures of a 1972 TI system in a Corvette it was not factory installed. NO 1972 Corvettes had a factory installed TI system. I would rate that option rare for 1972.Terry- Top

Re: TI ingition system 1971
Paul,
Go to the TI website and find the wiring diagrams for the various years, hopefully these diagrams will answer any questions about harness length and connections. I don't know which AIM shows the correct routing of the harness in the car but it sounds the same from 69-up. If someone could send you a picture of that page you should be able to install. Make sure all the ground connections are nice and clean.- Top

Re: TI ingition system 1971
Paul,
On your TI harness, you'll see a single wire spade connector that goes thru the firewall and connects to the ignition fuse block. The other single wire connector attaches to the ignition harness yellow coil wire. The white wire with the all metal u-shape connector attaches to the + side of the TI coil. The black wire with same u-shape metal connector attaches to the - side of the TI coil. The double spade connector mates to the same style two wire connector coming out of bottom of TI distributor. The round pigtail connector plugs into the TI amplifiers 27 inch pigtail connector. There are two metal round eyelet radiator support ground connections for these two. That should be all.- Top
