Removed Original 67 Cluster - Look What I Found

I removed my 67 cluster (with a little help from a qualified friend) and found all of the usual stuff. Back has the LA sticker, "SPEEDOMTER READS TWICE CABLE SPEED", and is stamped "MAR 27 1967 015" which is consistent for an April 18th build date. Doesn't look like this cluster has been out of the dash in a long time.

One thing I found that I haven't heard of before is two tape stickers inside the Speed and Tach cluster. One is shiney green and the other is white and both say:

    Century Auto Radio Inc.
    Speedometer Service
    5037 W. Diversey
    NA2-6544 & NA2-7449

Is this standard fare as well, or something to suggest the speedo was serviced a long time ago. If so, anybody heard of that place?? I found a West Diversey in Chicago. Any ideas? Thanks.

They have both been serviced, as you surmised.

That NA2 is an old Chicago exchange, for NAtional. It was certainly in the West Diversey area of Chicago.

Kirk, The cluster has defintely been repaired. Evidently, they must have done a lot of work for new and used car dealer's in the Chicago area. I found a similar sticker, on the clock case of triple Black 1966 L72 converetible, I have now. There was also other info, on the rear of the clock case, written with a Black marker, in 2 places, next to the sticker. Written was Sunniday Chevrolet (was located in Highland Park, IL in that time period) and Henderson Pontiac (located in Downers Grove, IL), with a date of 7-5-72, B. Bartolo, employee, under it. Evidently, the car was on their used car lot around that time and the clock was out for another repair. Hope this helps. Dave

So, would this suggest to you guys that my car was in the Chicago area at one time? My guess is people were less likely to be mailing things out for repair back in those days, so the car must have been in the proximity of the repair shop (ie:Chicago area?)?? Any thoughts???

Also, does the 015 at the end of the cluster date string mean anything? Thanks.

              Kirk -

The "015" identifies the line/department the cluster was assembled on at AC Spark Plug.
