C2 front license plate bracket angle

Should the license plate be verticle when attached? Mine is on a slight forward angle. I don't want to bend it back if it is correct as is.

Yes it has an angle. Check your AIM for correct placement on center bar assembly.

If I remember right the bottom should be out further than the top.

On my 1967 small-block car, the front license plate has about a 7-8 degree forward angle: i.e. the license plate points slightly down towards the ground from vertical. Same as yours.

It also appears this way in the 1967 AIM.

65 Road Test pics show it best

Went through all my magazine road tests 1963 thru 1967. I figure the pic below from an August 1965 Road & Track test shows it best. At least 75% of the other years shots showed the same. Note California manufacturers' plate.

Tilt not mentioned in '65 TIM&JG.

I'll leave it to you guys to calculate the correct angle.

do a search on 28 June 2006 looking for "C2 Front License Plate Bracket" you will find the real story. (forget my 80 degree listing - it was measured backwards, SB 10 degrees)
