    1980 restoration

    Hello all,

I am in the process of restoring my 1980 vette. Does anyone know of where I might find detailed photos of the engine bay and chassis for this model? What I am specifically looking for are finish colors or type of finish for various components. This is not going to be a 100 pt show car. Its a really good driver that I want to look as original as possible but have the latest in rust protection and paint.
This is my 1st attempt at restoration and I am having a blast so far!
Any help is very much appreciated.

    Re: 1980 restoration

There were pictures posted a few years ago from the the assy plant for the 1980 run. I doubt the link is still up, nut I did save them to disc somewhere. They would be to large to post here, so if you'd like to email me, I could dig them up & zip them to you. They should be very helpful.
    Good luck!

Rich, that would be great if you could send the photos. Someone in the past had decided to do a "dress-up" on this cars engine and chassis so there are things painted black that I don't believe should be painted at all.
My email address for the zip is david@4rcc.net.

          Many thanks,

                Dean,

That would be perfect. Mine is claret/doeskin leather 4 speed. I have had it about 5 years. Was showing 48,000 miles but the speedo had some problems so not sure how accurate. The car is as solid as they come...other than every bushing dryrotted and the block and 1 head are cracked. New motor in 2 weeks but I am keeping the original in case of miracles.
I am at the point of re-assembling the front end. Curious about the sway bar color (natural cast or painted) steering linkage components (pitman arm, idler arm, tie-rod links) spindles.
                Thanks again for any help.
