    C3 A.I.R. pump

    Happy New Year!
My question is the color of the AIR pump plastic fan. If it is black, it is a repro? I was told an original fan would be white for 1969 (the car I am restoring, it is a BB) & that a good example will be a few hundred $$$. Yikes. I'm also confused about the numbers stamped in the aluminum housing. Thanks for any info.

    Rich-----

AIR pump "fans" (actually, they're a centrifugal filter and not a true fan) for the 1969 model year were "white". They remained "white" at least through the 1971 model year and, I believe, well after that. They were not a true white, though. They were a slightly yellowish white (even when they were brand new) due to the type of plastic used (nylon or Delrin, I believe). I believe they are available in reproduction for about $75. However, the ones I've seen appeared too white to me.

The numbers stamped into the "semi-circular" machined area on the pump housing represent a date code (julian, as I recall), pump model number (represented by a single alpha character) and shift.
