I need info on replating/coating my 1975 L82 aluminum valve covers
to ncrs specs. They seem to have a bright milky look to them.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Pat
The valve covers were not originally plated. They are aluminum and, for 1975, originally had a semi-dull finish. However, over time, this finish deteriorates and is difficult to restore to its exact, original appearance.
They can be "re-skinned", which is a proprietary tumbling process which both cleans them and restores the original surface appearance. Contact for this is Jerry MacNeish, Camaro Hi-Performance (www.z28camaro.com), (410) 781-0418, in Eldersburg, Maryland. Click on the link below to see a sample of his work on my Z/28 (same valve covers as yours).
