Considering the consensus of the responses on this board that those with the part# stamped in them are not original, they sure are selling for a lot on Ebay. I realize Ebay prices are awfully inflated now, but there seems to be a lot of buyers who must believe the ones with the part# are original, or NOS as the case may be, and worth more. Currently, when judged, do both those with and without the part# receive full credit for originality?

Re: original C2 exhaust extensions...
Hi Rob:
At present, the 67 JM says "most have visible part numbers." To me, this should provide what lawyers call a "safe harbor" for cars that have visible part numbers on the extensions. I realize that a determined judge could still make a deduction in spite of what the JM says, but it might be an uphill battle if the owner contests the deduction.
FYI, I know that the parts counter service repacements typically had a part number stamped on them. I have not personally seen enough known-original extensions to develop an opinion about whether they all lacked part numbers, but other, more experienced members on this board have said the originals did not have stamped part numbers.
Since, technically, all "NOS" parts are actually just service replacements that may or may not be identical to the original production units, it is not unreasonable for sellers to describe such parts as NOS.
There are other judged aspects of original extensions, such as the appearance and placement of the welded seam, and the degree of magnetic attraction of the stainless steel. To my knowledge, the NOS service replacement parts from GM are identical to the production units in these other respects. So far, the NOS extensions on my car have received full credit in three separate judging events.- Top

Re: original C2 exhaust extensions...
Joe,
Interestingly, Bill Clupper & I had a conversation regarding '67 exhaust extensions while my car was on the lift for the advanced judging seminar at Old Town in Kissimmee. My extensions are original. They have no part numbers, have a seam at the bottom and are slightly magnetic stainless steel. Extensions available over the counter & reproductions have stamped part numbers.

Re: original C2 exhaust extensions...
Rob, I removed the over the counter ones from my 63 long ago since they had the part number stamped in them. Now the car has NOS ones with no numbers and a seam. No deducts. John D.- Top
