I was cleaning my '59 frame today and found most of the red frame stenciled numbers still there. I can't make out all of them. Which number would be correct for my car? With a VIN of 33XX. (Very late December car.) Will it be the "303190-60" or the "303190-61"? What about the date code. How far ahead should the frame date be from the build date? Does anyone have a photo of a C1 frame stencil?
Thanks Ken
The date precedes the assembly date by approximately two weeks to two months on 1953-62 frames. Example; a 1959 with serial number 3305 would be dated 12.31.58 303190-61. Note the hole in the frame for the location of the numbers. 1 3/8 from the bottom of the frame rail and 1 1/2 from the centerline of the hole to the yr. date. you may want shell out for the chassis detailing kit that includes the drive shaft.
When did the frames change from 303190-60 to 303190-61 in the '59 model year?
Are you sure that 33xx car should have a 303190-61 number?
Thanks for your help.
