    FUEL INJECTION NUT PLATE

I HAVE AN EARLY FUEL CAR SERISL #00013 - 1961

MY QUESTION IS THE ONLY NUT PLATE ON MY CAR WAS FOR THE TOP MOUNTING OF THE FUEL INJECTION AIR CLEANER - THE PLATE THAT GOES BEHIND THE WINDSHIELD WEASHER VACUUM TANK MEASURES 1" BY 3.825" AND IS ABOUT .098 THICK- THE ONE BEHIND THE J STRAP IS 1.800" LONG BY 7/8TH WIDE - AND IS .250 THICK - IT HAS 2 RIVET HOLES AND 1 HOLE FOR THE STRAP- MY QUESTION IS WHAT KIND OF RIVETS WERE USED- WHAT HEAD CONFIGURATION - I TOOK THER PLATE MEASUREMENTS IN PLACR WITH VERNIEE CALIPERS IN PLACE SO THE DIMENSIONS ARE NOT 100% BUT CLOSE. DO YOU THINK A LAZY WORKER NEGLECTED TO PUT THE PLATES ON MY CAR - I HAVE SCENE A 60 FUEL CAR MISSING THE PLATES ALSO. I WOULD RATHER HAVE THE PLATES FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD ADD THE PLATES?? ALSO THE J STRAP FOR THE LEFT SIDE FRESH AIR HOSE I WOULD LIKE A MEASUREMENT FOR LOCATION

    Re: FUEL INJECTION NUT PLATE

First, Joel, please lose the caps!!
Second--no, a lazy worker would have been caught, because the screws would not have secured the air cleaner to the inner fender. There are many fuel cars around that are missing the plate for several reasons:
    1) they are not a fuel car, and only have had holes drilled in the inner fender. There are many other things to look at before assuming it's a fuel car. It's easy to hand an air cleaner onthe inner fender and emblems on the side and call it a a fuel car.
    2) It's easy to put one screw in, turn it too tight before putting in the other one, and twist the plate emogh that the rivet lets go the next time you take the screws out.
    3) Rust attacks the plate and the attaching point.

Are you sure it's an original fuel injection car?

Sorry about the caps but the granddaughter gets me on line and I type with one finger so Im learning. My car did not have the fuel unit on it when I got it.It had 2-4s.The F.I showed up in stripping-the emblem holes. The J-strap for the fresh air hose was hanging and the battery sheild was too. There wasv no wiper vacuum tank although the two holes where it should have been were there.Ive had the car looked at by experts and every one thinks its a big brake, fuel, radio delete, fact ory prototype heads complete with rollbar mounts.Iknow you are the man on these cars and maybe Ill learn to send pictures although I would mail you some if I had your address. My top F.I.air cleaner nut plate was there. My vacuum plate was missing because there were no rivet holes and no tank-just the two mounting holes. It would be easy to just attach it with rivets but Im trying to do this right. What if car 11 on E-bay is the same?Once I figure out how to ask him.
