I haven't had much luck in my search for a April/May of '70 3940960 water pump for a 1970 454/390. Does anyone know of a good source for these? Thanks.

Have you tried Bill Mock? The 3940960 is kind of a tough one since it was used for such a short period of time and its application was limited to Corvettes, some MD/HD trucks, and 65-68 SERVICE pumps manufactured during the same 1-1/2 year period that the 3940960 was used in PRODUCTION. It's nowhere near as common as the earlier 3856284.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Water pump source
Bill Mock is certainly a premier source and rebuilder of water pumps. Just in case he doesnt have what you need you can also try Classic Chevy Water Pumps in Mesa AZ 480-860-6463. I met him at carlisle while looking for a spare pump for my BB. I purchased one from him. My first call was to Bill Mock who unfortunately did not have the date I was looking for.- Top

Re: Water pump source
Bill Mock will probably have it, or will source it if you can be patient. I was looking for a 66 390hp water pump with the correct dates and he found one after a month or so. Be prepared to pay a fairly high price. He wanted $350 for the one I needed. I found one for far less than that on ebay. Bill was bidding on it too, but I ended up with it. Lucky me...avoided the middle man this time. Good luck and happy hunting.
